Our bat box is suitable for hanging on the facades of buildings or in trees. If the box is hung on a facade, there is a good chance that a common pipistrelle, a serotine bat, a serotine bat or a small pipistrelle will inhabit the box. If the box is hung on a tree, there is also a chance of a red bat, the forest bat, the common long-eared bat and the whiskered bat.
The box can be used by bats as a summer residence, mating residence and/or maternity residence.
Our box is larger than most standard boxes, we made this choice because bats live in colonies and like to be together in large numbers. Our boxes can therefore accommodate dozens of bats. In order to make such a large box look graceful, we opted for a gable sign model. In which saw cuts of 2mm have been made in the entire back wall (flight area + living space) to offer the bat sufficient grip.
We also make larger boxes, for example for mitigation measures. These boxes can accommodate up to 200 bats. They are up to 180 cm in size and consist of multiple compartments. The bat population has declined in recent years. The exact causes behind this trend have rarely been properly investigated, possible factors are disturbance and disappearance of roosts, the use of pesticides in agriculture, and for example wood preservatives in church attics. The reduction in the number of hedgerows and intensification in the agricultural landscape are also often mentioned as causes for the decline.

Roof: the entire roof is finished with bitumen roofing felt that ensures a dry interior. Bat roosts may not contain moisture. By good drainage we can also guarantee a long lifespan.
Maintenance: the cabinet cannot be opened, but the cabinet is designed in such a way that droppings fall to the floor and do not accumulate in the cabinet.
Lifespan: 10 to 15 years.
Check box: this is usually done from the ground by checking whether the bats leave the box or fly back into the box later in the evening. It is not possible to open the box.

The boxes that are hung on trees are provided with an oak back slat of approx. 3 cm and over 100 cm long. This ensures that the box hangs firmly on the tree and guarantees a long lifespan. The box can also be hung on a facade. In all cases, there must be no direct vegetation under the box. The bats must be able to fly in and out freely.
